About 20 Finnish members of parliament have reported suspicious break-ins at their homes over roughly a year, including one case where a lawmaker found feces left in an unflushed toilet, The Telegraph reported. Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-aho confirmed authorities are investigating a significant number of suspected intrusions, though there was no forced entry, theft or property damage.
A senior lawmaker suggested the incidents could be a Russian intelligence operation meant to signal surveillance and sow unease, a tactic with precedent: similar toilet-based calling cards have reportedly been left for a BBC correspondent, a Guardian journalist, and a U.S. official's suitcase. Finnish authorities have not identified a culprit or motive, and Russian involvement remains suspicion rather than confirmed fact.

If this really is a spy agency's idea of psychological warfare, somebody back at headquarters ought to be asked what exactly the psychology is supposed to accomplish. Twenty lawmakers with a mystery mess in the bowl isn't terror, it's a plumbing complaint with a geopolitical theory attached. Whoever is behind it, they've traded Cold War tradecraft for something your average raccoon could pull off.
