The Library of Congress posted a tribute to Dolly Parton following her death at 80, highlighting her Imagination Library program rather than her music career. The library noted the program has donated more than 300 million books to children under five since 1995 and that Parton visited in 2018 to donate its 100 millionth book.

Parton started the program in Sevier County, Tennessee, in memory of her father, who was illiterate. The library's statement called her a 'titan of children's literacy' and noted the program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards.
