Once you've said it out loud in front of the whole room, voting to unsay it is like trying to put the smoke back in the chimney. Anybody who was sitting there still heard every word, and now they also know the commission would rather they hadn't. If the debate was fine to hold in public, it's fine to keep in the record. If it wasn't, the time to worry about it was before the gavel came down, not after.
