British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, on his first foreign trip since taking office, announced during a Kyiv visit that the UK will let defense firm MBDA share information on Storm Shadow/SCALP missile components so Ukraine can develop its own long-range weapon. Burnham was the only E3 leader to visit Kyiv on Ukraine's Independence Day.

Burnham also pledged €3.5 billion in annual UK military assistance 'for as long as necessary' and urged partners to bolster Ukraine's air defenses ahead of winter. Politico reported the missile arrangement is unlikely to shift the war's short-term trajectory but signals deepening UK-Ukraine defense cooperation, and adds pressure on Germany's Chancellor Merz, who reversed his earlier support for supplying Taurus missiles once in office.
