The White House says President Trump hosted President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan for a State Visit, and that during the visit the two countries 'operationalized' the Boards of Trade and Investment first chartered at a May 2026 Beijing summit.

The release also says the leaders discussed 'fostering peace and prosperity' and agreed to build a relationship of 'strategic stability' based on 'respect, fairness, and reciprocity,' phrases that appear in the fact sheet but no specific commitments, numbers, or enforcement terms accompany them.

When a man tells you his handshake deal is historic, fair, and built on respect, and then can't show you a single line of the deal, you'd be smart to count your chickens yourself. A board of trade that got ‘operationalized’ sounds a lot like a committee that got a letterhead. Come back when there's a number on the page and somebody whose job it is to check it.
