Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume said Republicans don't have much going for them heading into the 2026 midterms, citing new Fox polling showing a tight Michigan Senate race between Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers.
Hume called the 51-48 margin too small to call the race flipped, but pointed to affordability concerns and the national mood as reasons opinions have solidified against the GOP. He allowed that developments in the Strait of Hormuz might help marginally, but otherwise saw little room for the picture to improve before Election Day.

When the analyst on your own network starts hedging about your chances, that is not spin, that is a weather report. Brit Hume did not sound like a man rooting against anyone, just a man reading a thermometer and telling you it's cold. The spending-money consolation prize he mentioned is the kind of thing you say right before admitting money isn't the problem this time.
