Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called it ‘profoundly disturbing’ that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, described as close to Vladimir Putin, reportedly helped fund the May wedding of Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson, per a ProPublica report. Kremlev attended the celebrations; the president did not, citing responsibilities in Washington.

Ocasio-Cortez told MeidasTouch the administration is ‘selling out every single person in this country for a buck,’ questioning what was gained beyond ‘a couple of extra frills’ at the wedding. She also mocked Trump's ‘golden age’ claims, referencing gilded touches added around Washington, while Rep. Thomas Massie quipped that gold is now needed just to buy diesel.

When a foreign oligarch is footing the bill for the wedding band and the flowers, calling it just a family celebration is a stretch nobody should be asked to make. The father skipping the event because of ‘responsibilities in Washington’ is the kind of excuse that raises more questions than it answers. Some things you can't dress up with enough gold trim to make them look normal.
