Pakistan's ambassador to Morocco, Syed Adil Gilani, marked the country's 80th Independence Day in Rabat by recounting Muhammad Ali Jinnah's role in the 1947 founding and Pakistan's historical support for Moroccan independence, including issuing a Pakistani passport to nationalist leader Ahmed Balafrej.

Gilani touted January's defense cooperation memorandum covering training, cybersecurity and military health, plus recent talks aimed at pushing bilateral trade past $1 billion.

The embassy has also been meeting Morocco's Rabat Chamber of Commerce and planning business delegations, though no concrete trade figures were offered beyond the ambassador's aspiration.
