This roundup covers a busy Supreme Court week: a denied stay of execution followed by Tennessee's execution of Anthony Darrell Dugard Hines, an emergency-docket fight over Trump's mail-in voting executive order pushed by the administration and 12 states against 23 states plus D.C., and Justice Kagan denying Apple a pause in its App Store commission contempt dispute. A new study found oral arguments have grown from about an hour to nearly 90 minutes since pandemic-era phone arguments began, with Justice Jackson now the most talkative justice and both Thomas and, increasingly, Chief Justice Roberts the quietest.

Elsewhere, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries floated Supreme Court reform if Democrats regain power, calling the conservative wing a 'subsidiary' of the MAGA movement. The State Department announced a new task force targeting birth tourism, claiming to have already revoked over 600 visas, part of a broader crackdown following the Court's June ruling against Trump's birthright citizenship order. In Alaska, an American Samoan family faces felony voter misconduct charges after being told they weren't citizens, a case now tangled in the aftermath of a Supreme Court citizenship ruling the state has so far declined to directly address.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

Meanwhile a family in Whittier gets to test in court whether the state actually read the ruling it's supposedly bound by.
