Jurors chosen for UK husband accused of drugging, raping wife with other men

A jury of five men and seven women was selected Wednesday in Manchester for the trial of a man in his 60s and 12 co-defendants accused of sexual offenses against his wife over roughly two decades.

The husband pleaded guilty in June to 15 offenses, including rape and assault by penetration, but denies 33 other charges including conspiracy to rape and administering substances with intent.

Prosecutors say the drugging began in 2004, with other men's alleged involvement dating from 2018; the case has drawn comparisons to France's Gisèle Pelicot trial. The prosecution's case is expected to begin Thursday.
