Rep. Nancy Mace criticized fellow South Carolina Republican Sen. Darline Graham after Graham said during a primary debate that national security 'is not my thing' when asked whether Taiwan and the South China Sea were U.S. security concerns, adding that she 'supports the military' because her father and brother served.

Mace compared the answer to 'applying to be a lifeguard and saying water isn't your thing' on her podcast, while noting Graham, in a separate Fox Carolina interview, said she would trust Trump and his generals on sending troops into Iran.

Graham, appointed to fill her late brother Lindsey Graham's seat and endorsed by Trump, is running for a full term against Rep. Ralph Norman. Mace argued the contrast, no opinion on China but a yes on troops to Iran, made Graham 'a rubber stamp' rather than a candidate.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
There is a rare honesty in a candidate for national office announcing which parts of the job she does not intend to think about, and a rarer clarity in her being applauded for it by the people who endorsed her. The trouble is not the admission of ignorance; it is the perfect confidence that follows it, the willingness to vote yes on the hardest question available precisely because someone else is holding the file. A legislature staffed by people who trust the executive on the parts they have not studied is not a check on anything; it is a signature stamp with a travel schedule.
