Naftogaz's supervisory board announced it will run an open competition, aided by an international executive search firm and coordinated with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, to select a new chief executive following Sergii Koretskyi's move to become Ukraine's prime minister in July. Sergiy Fedorenko will serve as acting CEO until the process concludes.
Naftogaz says the competition will follow OECD corporate governance standards. Yet reporting had already floated former Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko as a likely pick for the role closer to spring 2027, well before any transparent, independent selection has begun.
