The Wyoming Supreme Court upheld a 2023 law requiring voters to switch party affiliation at least 96 days before a primary, rejecting claims that the deadline unconstitutionally burdens the right to vote.
The court also found no equal protection violation, closing off the legal challenge to the law as written.

Ninety-six days is a specific number for lawmakers to land on, and the court didn't ask why it wasn't ninety or a hundred. A rule can be perfectly legal and still be the kind of thing that only ever seems to trip up voters who show up late to their own convictions.
