The Kennedy Center's board voted a second time to shut down the main building for a two-year, $250 million renovation, and separately voted to restore Trump's name to the entrance as

Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump.

A federal judge had previously blocked an identical closure vote in March, finding board members lacked sufficient information to make it.

The plan, approved on a Zoom call not open to the public, keeps The REACH open while the main campus closes until summer 2028, with new marble floors and nearly $12 million in acoustical improvements. Democratic ex-officio trustees say they still haven't been shown any assessment of what the closure means for the institution's long-term health.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Holding the same vote again by Zoom, without the information a judge already said was missing, isn't correcting the record — it's daring the court to stop them twice. An institution can survive a lot of things, but not a board that treats judicial rulings as a formality to be re-litigated until it gets the answer it wanted.
