General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Bangladesh's Chief of Army Staff, has returned home after a five-day visit to UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and Abyei, where he inspected Bangladeshi army and navy units and urged peacekeepers to maintain discipline and alertness. He met with UN force commanders from both missions as well as South Sudan's defence minister and military chief, who gave him a guard of honour.
The visit, according to the military's own press wing, is meant to boost peacekeeper morale and strengthen Bangladesh's international partnerships and role in UN peacekeeping.
