NABU and SAPO expanded their investigation into a Poltava Oblast road repair kickback scheme to nine suspects, adding a former deputy chair of the Poltava Oblast Council, a city council member, a city official and two contractor representatives. Investigators allege officials in the city's Housing and Utilities Department conspired with the former oblast official and two council members to demand bribes worth 10% of road maintenance contract values.
The total illicit payments allegedly exceeded UAH 29.9 million. The case builds on a June announcement naming four initial suspects, and follows a separate October 2025 SBU probe into a UAH 15 billion cash-conversion scheme involving former tax officials in the same region.
