Ukrainian drones attack Russia’s Perm

Perm, roughly 870 miles from Ukraine, declared a drone alert on August 21 as sirens sounded, residents reported explosions, and the airport halted all flights. Local authorities offered no account of the aftermath by publication time.

The independent channel Astra reported smoke over the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery, one of Russia's largest and a repeat target of Ukrainian strikes since spring 2026, which also hit a Wildberries warehouse in the city in June.

Russia's Defense Ministry said air defenses shot down 325 drones across Russian regions overnight, and Moscow's mayor said seven were headed for the capital.
