✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A man with the nuclear codes has discovered the branding exercise, and is now polling the internet on a rechristening nobody requested for a term that has been in use since roughly the invention of the mainframe. Note that two of the three grand alternatives collapse into the identical acronym, which is the kind of quality control you would hope for in a document that ends with the word PRESIDENT in capital letters. Every option offered also happens to flatter the thing being renamed — superior, extreme, supreme — because the instinct here is not description but promotion. The word “artificial,” one suspects, was the real offender: it implies something might not be genuine.
