A man who boasts endlessly about picking the finest legal minds in the land has arrived at the conclusion that they are a shell of their original selves, which is either a devastating indictment of the Court or a devastating indictment of the interviewer. Note the accounting method: the damage is simultaneously trillions of dollars and incalculable, which is how you know no one calculated it. Best of all is the closing pose of the martyr — the President of the United States announcing that speaking his mind will cost him dearly, in a post that cost him nothing and will be read by millions. The judiciary is not a staffing decision, and a signature at the bottom does not turn a grievance into a ruling.
