✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Nothing says command of the federal government like posting a link about the weather service relabeling a body of water that borders another country, as though cartography were a form of conquest. A lake is not a hat; you cannot simply put a new one on it and declare the shoreline patriotic. The water will continue to flow into the St. Lawrence under its old arrangements, indifferent to the branding exercise, and the forecast for tomorrow will be exactly as wet as it was going to be. When the chief executive's contribution to the national conversation is a rename, the tell is not the name — it's the absence of anything else.
