Cartography software is not a electorate, and a dropdown label is not a plebiscite — yet here the acclaim of three tech companies is entered as evidence that a body of water has been rechristened by popular demand. The lake in question has a second shoreline, occupied by a sovereign neighbor who was apparently not consulted, on the theory that international boundaries are a rendering issue. And the boom, as always, is unmeasured, unsourced, and BOOMING in capital letters, which is the only audit this administration performs. A man who signs his own posts with his own full name and title is not announcing news; he is notarizing a feeling.
