The boast is engineered to be unlosable: the estimates were beaten by everyone except the one estimator who never has to publish his number in advance. Then comes the part where monetary policy is discussed the way a man discusses a debt owed to him in a parking garage — lower the rate, or global trade gets it. And the ask is not that the central bank be correct, but that it be patriotic, which is the tell: correctness can be checked, patriotism is whatever the person shouting says it is on a given morning. A country whose credit is genuinely improving does not need to inform the world of this in all caps, twice.
