There is something clarifying about a man who cannot greet anyone, living or venerated, without first assigning them a win column. The birthday wish is the wrapper; the title is the point, and the title is borrowed from the only vocabulary the author owns — victories, plural, unspecified, presumably his. A greeting this short should not require a scoreboard, and yet here we are, watching the presidential seal be pressed onto a trophy engraving.
