The First Amendment is short enough to fit on a phone screen, which makes it strange that it never seems to load on this one. Note the standard of proof on display: the outlets are guilty of fiction because the subject of their reporting says so, a arrangement under which no ruler has ever once been covered unfairly. Also on the docket, a mocking nickname, an accounting grievance, and the word “alive” in scare quotes — the whole grammar of a man who has confused the White House press room with a guest list. “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow” is not a policy; it is a threat with a stamp on it.
