There is a special kind of confidence required to price a war at the pump before it is over, in two denominations, with a delivery date of ‘quickly.’ Note the structure: an unfalsifiable boast about the future, a promise no commander can guarantee, and a signature to make it official — as if the market and the Islamic Republic have both been served notice. When the number lands anywhere else, the goalposts will be moved and the prediction will be recalled as a triumph, because nothing here was ever meant to be checked. Wars are not a rebate program, and the people who fight them are not a line item in a gas-price forecast.
