Somewhere between the branding meeting and the governing, a head of state has discovered the elimination round, and he is not letting it go. The stated reason for the cut — that a word reminds people of a court — is the sort of logic that would get you removed from a crossword club, and the claim that it was losing badly arrives with no tally, no voters, and no way to check, which is precisely the point of claims like that. The republic does not actually need a nickname for a technology, and no adjective chosen by acclamation will make anything smarter, least of all the process that produced it. Democracy is a serious instrument; using it as an applause meter is how you wear out the springs.
