✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A president has every right to dislike a sculpture; what he does not have is the standing to file a five-year exhibition schedule with an opening date already picked. The superlatives here are the giveaway — greatest, easily greatest, without him none of it exists — claims arranged so that no historian could ever disagree without seeming unpatriotic, which is the entire design. The mention of leadership that has recently ended is not a footnote either; it is the thumb, resting lightly on the scale, visible to everyone still employed. History told fairly, accurately and coherently is a fine standard, and the first thing it rules out is a government official picking which parts get hung.
