There is something clarifying about a government that keeps score of its own piety and then publishes the box score on the taxpayers' server. Note the number: not ten, not a hundred, but 250 — a figure large enough to imply exhaustive labor and vague enough that no one will ever audit item 187. Faith, in the ordinary sense, is trust without a receipt; here it arrives as an itemized invoice addressed to the believer. The desk simply observes that anyone confident of his good works rarely feels the need to number them.
