Alex Vindman, who lost Florida's Democratic Senate primary to state Rep. Angie Nixon by 12 points last week, is redistributing chunks of his roughly $7.2 million campaign war chest to other Democrats this fall. He sent $250,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and candidates including Mary Peltola, Abdul El-Sayed, Sherrod Brown and Troy Jackson, on top of $400,000 already sent to the Florida Democratic Party.
Vindman had spent his campaign attacking Republican incumbent Ashley Moody while barely acknowledging Nixon, which is offered as the simplest explanation for why he ended the race with so much money left over. In a statement, he framed the donations as essential to flipping the Senate and holding the Trump administration accountable.
