✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Few campaigns for a peace prize cite a war won in the same breath, but this one tucks it neatly between the hostages and the nukes, as if the committee grades on volume. The tally of wars ‘settled’ is offered with the precision of a box score and the verifiability of a fish story, and the closing ‘AND MUCH MORE!’ is the tell of every padded résumé. Most revealing is ‘I, or the United States of America’: a man who cannot tell where he ends and the country begins, wounded on behalf of both. The prize he wants is Nobel; the one he spelled is the virtue he keeps forgetting to show.
