Russia approves support measures for businesses affected by Wildberries warehouse strikes, including tax deferrals

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a resolution deferring taxes and insurance payments and suspending inspections for businesses whose losses from strikes on Wildberries warehouses exceed 5% of annual revenue, the government's press service said.

Ukrainian drone strikes have hit Wildberries logistics facilities since mid-July, with independent outlet Agentstvo calculating that eight of the marketplace's ten largest warehouses had been knocked out as of August 26.

The Finance Ministry had proposed separate relief for Wildberries itself, including extending VAT and profit tax deadlines to 2027, but as of this report no resolution addressing the company directly has been issued. A similar drone campaign against competitor Ozon, which is publicly traded, has already cost that company roughly a third of its share value.

Tax deferrals are a fine gesture for warehouses that no longer have anything to defer taxes on. The government moved fast enough to help the sellers but not the marketplace itself, which suggests the paperwork was easier to fix than the smoking craters.
