A Russian strike on the Kyiv region on Aug. 28 sparked a fire and secondary explosions at warehouse facilities in the Bucha district, closing a stretch of the Kyiv-Chop highway. Russian military bloggers claimed an ammunition depot was hit; Ukrainian officials said the fire also struck a commercial enterprise in the village of Myla, injuring five people, and destroyed one home in Bucha while damaging seven others.

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi called the incident 'criminal negligence,' comparing it to a July strike on a Ukroboronprom warehouse in Vyshneve that killed nine people and destroyed dozens of homes. He said the repeat failure, four years into the invasion, demands severe punishment for those responsible. Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office said it is investigating the circumstances of the explosions.
