✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
No clause of the Constitution forbids a federal judge from asking to be told what is going on; courts request notice routinely, and receiving a letter has never been ruled a grave burden on the executive. The post’s case against oversight is that the judge lacks expertise in golf, a standard that would disqualify most judges from most cases, and the Constitution has never required a handicap. As for the safety emergency, a golf course where people shout ‘FORE!’ is a golf course working exactly as intended. When a president treats a simple heads-up to a court as tyranny, the real question isn’t the state of the fairways but what he’d rather the judge not see coming.
