Nobody has ever written a more transparent cover letter for a job that was already filled. The post spends its first half calling the winner a disgrace and its second half praising its own author like a hired campaign biographer, as if the committee might miss the hint unless it ended in three exclamation points. It counts ‘making best efforts’ and ‘trying’ as accomplishments, which would make every unfinished peace plan in history a winner. And ‘the list goes on and on’ is not a list. It is what people write when the list stops.
