Federal fuel relief is apparently available to Kansans only on the condition that they change governors, which is a curious way to run a national emergency measure. The 8 billion is announced at what reads as a rally and attached to a senator’s name like a campaign sticker. And a war is mentioned as a parenthetical cause of high prices, with a promise it will end ‘very quickly’ — a forecast presidents have historically regretted making.
